Rachel attended Queen’s University and graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce in 2008. She received her Juris Doctor from the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law in 2011. After completing her articles with a full-service firm in Toronto, she was called to the Bar by the Law Society of Upper Canada in 2012. Rachel previously practiced in the Greater Toronto Area, focusing primarily on family law, until she returned home to Kemptville and joined Jansen Law as an associate in 2016.
Rachel is thrilled to return to the Kemptville area, where she was born and raised, and to have the opportunity to serve the community through her legal practice.
Her areas of practice include family law, real estate, and wills and estates.
Rachel’s expertise in family law covers all aspects, including custody, access, child and spousal support, divorce, marriage contracts, cohabitation agreements, separation agreements and property related issues.
Rachel is passionate about providing her clients with timely, efficient and cost-effective representation, with an emphasis on reaching negotiated out of court settlements. She is a proponent of alternative-dispute resolution processes including negotiation and mediation. Rachel has completed her Collaborative Family Law training.
During law school, Rachel volunteered her time with ProBono Students Canada and worked at a community legal clinic in the area of poverty law. She was a teaching assistant for an alternative-dispute resolution course and travelled to Paris, France, to compete as a member of the internal mediation team. She also spent a summer volunteering at a centre for disadvantaged Thai women in Bangkok.
Rachel is looking forward to being able to give back to the Kemptville community through continued charitable work.
Rachel is the current Past-President of the Leeds & Grenville Law Association.
