Rachel Jansen, B Comm., J.D.

Rachel attended Queen’s University and graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce in 2008. She received her Juris Doctor from the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law in 2011. After completing her articles with a full-service firm in Toronto, she was called to the Bar by the Law Society of Upper Canada in 2012. Rachel previously practiced in the Greater Toronto Area,  focusing primarily on family law, until she returned home to Kemptville and joined Jansen Law as an associate in 2016.

Rachel is thrilled to return to the Kemptville area, where she was born and raised, and to have the opportunity to serve the community through her legal practice.

Her areas of practice include family law, real estate, and wills and estates.

Rachel’s expertise in family law covers all aspects, including custody, access, child and spousal support, divorce, marriage contracts, cohabitation agreements, separation agreements and property related issues.

Rachel is passionate about providing her clients with timely, efficient and cost-effective representation, with an emphasis on reaching negotiated out of court settlements. She is a proponent of alternative-dispute resolution processes including negotiation and mediation. Rachel has completed her Collaborative Family Law training.

During law school, Rachel volunteered her time with ProBono Students Canada and worked at a community legal clinic in the area of poverty law. She was a teaching assistant for an alternative-dispute resolution course and travelled to Paris, France, to compete as a member of the internal mediation team. She also spent a summer volunteering at a centre for disadvantaged Thai women in Bangkok.

Rachel is looking forward to being able to give back to the Kemptville community through continued charitable work.

Paul Jansen B.A., LL.B.

Paul Jansen obtained his Bachelor of Arts from Queen’s University in 1980 and received his law degree from that university in 1983. He was called to the Bar in Ontario in 1984 and joined Kemptville lawyer Edward (Ted) Warren that year, becoming a partner and establishing the law firm of Warren and Jansen.

In his more than 30 years of legal practice, Paul has dealt with every aspect of individual and company law. He is widely respected in the legal community and has served as President of the Leeds and Grenville Law Association.

In addition to his wide-ranging legal expertise, Paul is known for finding the most effective solutions for clients, whether dealing with business matters or family transitions.

Having grown up on a farm in Dundas County, Paul is well acquainted with the value of hard work. He remained true to his rural roots in his decision to practice law in “small town Kemptville.” Paul and his wife Carole, who also works with the firm, raised their four children in the community. Their children attended school in Kemptville and were involved in many sports and other community organizations, including the Kemptville ‘73s.

Contributing to and supporting the community have always been a priority for Paul and the firm. Paul is an active member of the board of directors for Community Living North Grenville, as well as that organization’s Past President. He provides many hours of pro bono legal services to other non-profit organizations in our community and to many others in need.

Paul was one of the founders of the co-op education program in our high schools. Over the years, the firm has provided placements for many co-op students, with a strong focus on mentoring and development opportunities.

Paul is supportive and proud of everyone at Jansen Law for their many volunteer hours and involvement in community sports, activities, service clubs and charity events.
